ScULPTRA
Sculptra is a biostimulator that helps your body produce more collagen, which naturally decreases as you age. This helps your skin look fuller and firmer. Sculptra is different from fillers because it works gradually, stimulating your body to build natural collagen over time, with longer lasting effects. Dermal fillers offer immediate volume and contour.
It was first approved in 1999 in Europe and is now used in many countries.
Sculptra is made from a material that has been safely used in the body for many years, including in medical stitches.
FAQ’s
Does Sculptra hurt?
Sculptra is mixed with lidocaine 2%, a fast-acting numbing medicine that works within 1 to 2 minutes.
Usually, only one small entry point is needed on each side of the face to insert the cannula.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your individual needs, so a face-to-face consultation is important for a full assessment.
Most people need at least 3 vials, usually given in this schedule:
Day 0: First vial
6 weeks later: Second vial
6 months later: Third vial
When will I see the results?
Days
1–4: Mild swelling may make your face look fuller. This is temporary and will settle.
4–6 weeks: Your body begins producing new collagen. You may start to see gradual improvement.
3–6 months: Full results appear as collagen builds, giving natural, longer-lasting volume.
How long does it last? Results can last 2–5 years, depending on the individual.
What are the side effects?
Common side effects include temporary swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the treatment area.
There is also a small risk of developing tiny lumps under the skin. These are usually not visible and can often be reduced by following the aftercare massage advice — the “5-5-5 rule”: massage the area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days.
Is there any downtime?
For 48 hours after treatment, avoid exercise, saunas, sunbeds, and facials.
Try not to wear makeup for at least 24 hours.
